Dodge Charger on American Muscle Cars

I'm sitting here watching this show on Speed. I love this program whenever I happen to catch it! They just mentioned when the big wing Charger came out (predecessor to the Superbird), they set a speed at Talladega in 1969 of 199 mph. Isn't it sad that they could got 199 at that track over 30 years ago and now we're going...what 185 or something because of the restrictorplates? Now, that was real racing!

That's also when the race cars looked like the street cars! Watching the truck race today made me wish we were back in the days of the boxy cars that made huge holes in the air...remember the slingshot pass? That's when you could pass without a train of 6 cars behind you.
