So does that mean Mother Nature is opposed to the chase, too?

Same old procedure being used as Lou suspected in another thread.  Well, that means that very few Bud Pole Awards will change.  Who has not had a pole this year that is now in the top 10?  Does anyone know and only if the points change on a weekly basis will the pole sitter change if it rains more quals out.   :?

Gee, another bright idea Nascar had.

About Mother Nature...I had a passing thought about all those hurricanes plowing thru Florida...did many of them seem to be aimed at Daytona?  You know, where the Nascar chumps come up with their bright ideas?  Maybe She was trying to tell them something?

And when Ivan took a left turn towards Alabama, I couldn't help but think Mother Nature was taking a beam on Talladega as well.  But seriously, I"m sorry to see all the devastation on the Alabama and Florida coasts.

But back to this race today, just heard a clip from the drivers meeting on XM and (as I predicted), David Hoots just announced NASCAR will throw a "competition caution" at lap 35 today.  Funny, 10 years ago, they always swore there was no such thing as a Comp Caution.  But this is the "new NASCAR."

Also, when quals got rain-delayed (initially) on Friday, I tuned into TNT for about five minutes before they went to some horrible Cops show.  Benny Parsons laughed as they predicted the field would be set on points and the "Sainted 10" would start 1-10 today.  He said "well, no one gets and advantage with that..."  I couldn't help but think of my points in our discussion a few weeks ago; that the 17 and 8 will be starting out with MUCH better spots than they would have they had to qualify.  So, I beg to differ with Benny that a couple of them WILL get an advantage...
