Sad News - David Poole: David Poole, NASCAR Writer for Charlotte Observer for the last 13 years, passed away today. David was one the first writers to ever help Jayski.com and myself back in 1997. No word on arrangements. Thoughts go out to David's family.(4-28-2009)

Wow, I haven't found any other information on this, but this came as a surprise.

RIP David

Oh my God!

I haven't had 128 on all day, so I hadn't heard about this at all!

What happened?

An unfortunate loss to real NASCAR fans.  I read his last column a couple hours ago and couldn't agree more with him.  His insight and factual reporting as opposed to hinging every word on the NASCAR  PR wagon will be sorely missed.  My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and loved ones.

I'm keeping with NASCAR's theme.."Idiot of Tomorrow" so Speedcouch needs a new resident idiot.

They just said on his show (the Morning Drive) that his wife found him in his home "studio" after the show went off the air yesterday.  According to Mike Bagley, she said she wasn't even sure if he had finished the show when she first found him.  How very sad for his wife and family... Cry

Over on digitialradio.com, someone posted links to David's final show, as well as 2 of his dramatic readings.

You don't need to sign up do download them, but there is a 50 second wait before you can download them.
