Mike Kuver of Laidbackracing sent me this article:

Lou and I have been commenting on how Richmond hasn't had tickets available since about 1990, yet this year, they are still not sold out.  Last week when driving to NC, we listened to a local Richmond radio station and they were still advertising tickets.  The author of the article is blaming gas prices for the drop in sales, but I'm sorry, the tickets for Richmond come up for renewal 9-12 months ahead of the race weekend and gas prices weren't that high back then.  To me, it shows the fans are finally "voting with their $$$" in response to the lack of racing.  IMHO, Richmond hasn't been competitive for the last 7-8 years.  That's why we stopped going to both races back around 2003 and finally gave up our tickets after the 2004 season.  And it's only 110 miles from our house!
