I wish my seat at the track was this close!

I was out picking up some lunch at work today, when the Matchbox 20 song that is used in the recent NASCAR commercial to show highlights of the "good old days" came on the radio.

The song is called "How far we've come" and when I heard the chorus for the first time I laughed out loud. In the chorus is this set of lyrics

Well I believe it all is coming to an end
oh well, i guess, we're gonna pretend

Prophecy or just another example of ad agencies using songs because they have a "good beat" without actually reading the lyrics that accompany them.

During the recent Hooters Pro Cup Series awards banquet, they used a song to accompany some highlight and parts of the song had drug references in them. I'm far from being a prude or politically correct, but sometimes it can be quite disappointing that people don't think these things through.

Oh, and some of the rest of the Matchbox 20 song lyrics include such keen NASCAR observations like:
its gone gone baby its all gone
there is no one on the corner and there's no one at home
it was cool cool, it was just all cool
now it's over for me and it's over for you
well its gone gone baby its all gone
