The news here in the Los Angeles area is being dominated by the Griffith Park fire.  The L.A. zoo and the observatory have been shut down, and hundreds of people have been evacuated.

This comes on the heels of the driest winter in history, not even three inches of rain!  We usually average about 11 inches every winter.  That means that there should be plenty of fires this year.  Already, on January 8, there was a fire in Malibu that destroyed several homes, including that of Suzanne Somers.  (L.A. never has brush fires in January!)

I just wish that some of the rain and snow that Vivian has dealt with could come here! Roll Eyes

We have a lot of smoke in the valley today.  Know there is a fire but not sure if it is controlled burn or a wild fire.

I sympathise with you, Desmond. Drought can be a terrible thing.
