This morning, ESPN analysts Rusty Wallace and Andy Petree appeared on the ESPN2 talk show Cold Pizza to review the past year and preview the coming year.

Both agreed that Jimmie Johnson was the driver of the year and Denny Hamlin was the rookie of the year.  ESPN2 also asked for a "best finish"; Rusty picked Brian Vickers' win at Talladega, and Andy's pick was Tony Stewart's victory at Kansas despite running out of gas.  (Those races, interestingly, were a week apart.)  There was even a "best fight" pick: Rusty went for Matt Kenseth vs. Jeff Gordon at Bristol in March; Andy preferred Eva Braun vs. Nicole Lunders at Texas in April.

As for 2007, Rusty picked Tony Stewart as champion, while Andy went with Kevin Harvick.  (Interesting considering the small "3" on the 29 car in honor of Dale Earnhardt, for whom Andy was crew chief for his last two season championships.)

Both had divergent views of the Car of Tomorrow.  Andy wants it to go away, Rusty hopes that NASCAR sticks with the new design.
