Before.Huh?
As I started to read the article on Doug Rice, (very good so far, Cheryl), about the 5th or 6th paragraph, it hit me. Like BOOM!
The answer to the Buschwhacker problem is simple--regardless of the turnout at Martinsville the other day.
RUN THE SMALLER TRACKS!!! Almost exclusively!! Why Not? Run the durn gone "Southern 500" on Labor day with the Busch cars AT DARLINGTON. Let the big money boys have California.
Run Hickory, Mansfield, IRP, etc. Charge reasonableprices. Bring back Rockingham. Let these older and younger drivers have a chance at a reasonable purse w/out the Big Boys hogging it all. Real race fans would dig it, ya know?
I'll bet that Cheryl and Lou could name 20 or 30 tracks where the Busch cars, as a standalone event, could put on a good race, and, I hate to say it, a good show. Keep in mind that the stand alone Busch races, AT TRACKS WHERE THEY DON'T HAVE A CUP RACE, (Kentucky, Gateway, etc), draw very good crowds.
Now all we have to do is come up with a few million and I'll promote the races!! :-D  :-D

--Irwindale Speedway (25 miles from home)
--South Boston Speedway
--Iowa Speedway
--Eldora (why not run a dirt track?)

Dick, that's what the Busch series USED to do.  They and the trucks ran a lot more short tracks, many that the Cup series didn't run.  Than, Nascar decided they needed more 'exposure', and started running more of the same tracks the Cup drivers do.  It would be great if they could go back to where they began, wouldn't it?
