It is being reported on jayski.com that Benny Parsons has lung cancer.
Treatment started immediately.  Benny plans to continue his duties with
NBC/TNT & PRN while undergoing treatment.

Oh man, that's tough!  Thanks for letting us know JW.  I'll try to send him a note today.

JW, although you referenced bad news, it is so good to have you back with us.

As for Benny, my heart is breaking.   Sad   I will add him to my prayers for sure.

Benny's enthusiam and humor always put a smile on my face when he's in the booth. He's an asset to the growth of the sport and I hope to hear him on the radio and television for many years to come.

Benny Parsons is one of the "down-to-earth" personalities that has made me proud to be a NASCAR fan.  Last year, we grieved with him over the death of his father.  Now, we pray for him in his own battle.

Here's an article with more information on Benny that I just saw on the NBC Sports web site.  I'm not minimizing his battle, but the details he gives in the article make the cancer sound survivable.  I sure hope so...

Parsons also said that he hopes to stay in the booth for a long time to come.  This is a contrast from an earlier statement in which he planned to retire after this year, when the NBC/TNT contract expires.
