Just wondering if any explanation was offered for the absence of Mike Joy from Friday's qualifying telecast and whether he is expected back for this weekend's races.

Yep, he was back, but DW is not doing the Busch race today.  Yahoo!

My exact thoughts too!  But still too many commercials, especially in the last 29 laps...

I think we have an answer to the question I originally posted.

Mike Joy apparently wrote this reply, with his name in the subject line and the e-mail address Two00mph@aol.com:

Thanks for the inquiry re: qualifying at Dover.  
It seems that Steve and Matt contractually each have so many shots a year in the anchor seat.  Steve will again do Cup qualifying at Pocono, Matt will be in Nashville with the Busch cars.
I'll pick it up again in Michigan.
