I saw this mentioned on Jayski this morning and just happened on the article from the Scene Daily.  As Lou said, this is a case of a network trying to MAKE the news when none exists:

Guess the network executives at NBC are really taking their lameduck status seriously.  I just feel bad for Allen and Bill and the others who'll have to live this down because somebody at NBC who doesn't have a clue about racing came up with this idea.  Of course, this is the same group of people who think Fear Factor is a good idea...

Here's more of the story from Dave Moody (of MRN and Sirius radio):

As a black fan of NASCAR racing, I feel insulted!

The next time I go to see a NASCAR race (which would be my first), I'm afraid that there will be some questions about my presence due to the Dateline NBC production staff and the NAMRF fiasco of 2004.  (By the way, whatever happened to that documentary?)

Also, has anyone heard whether NASCAR is considering the removal of the telecasts scheduled for NBC at the end of this season?  Greg Engle, writing in Cup Scene Daily, stated that he wouldn't mind seeing that happen.
