Thats what I've got so far, with HALF THE FIELD   switching cars next year!!!! Silly season is like the hurricane season this year, out of control. When Daytona rolls around in February, I'm gonna need a program to keep track of everyone. Keep in mind, there's several drivers out there free, including Bliss, Steve Park, Wimmer, Burton, Blaney, Leffler, and Andretti all still floating around.

EDIT 11/7: Many changes went down today, and I updated the list to reflect them. Things look to be sorting out nicely, and in a hurry too!

They are talking Dave Blaney to the 49 now.

Yeah this is getting wild.

I'm hearing Rudd to the 2, Labonte to the 42, McMurray to the 97, which switches numbers to 28 (Why Roush would take the 28 like that from Yates, who IIRC still owns it, is beyond me), Schrader to the 21, Blaney to the 22, Wimmer or Ward Burton to the 49, Terry Labonte runs first 5 in the 96 (HOF Racing).

Ahhh, I'm too confused now. I think this is the week where all the dominoes fall (collapse?). IIRC, on Trackside someone said something about "things will sort out in the next 7 to 10 days". We'll see.

At the rate things are going, Jr. switching to #6.7 doesn't seem all that unreasonable.

Cool info azbbbbbbbb!

Looks like tou can add this change to it now - from Jayski tonight -

ESPN's Mike Massaro is reporting that Roush Racing has released 2004 Nextel Cup Champ #97 Kurt Busch from his 2006 contract obligations, allowing Busch to go to the #2 Miller Lite Dodge that Rusty Wallace will be retiring from at the end of 2005. ALSO Massaro is reporting that Jamie McMurray has been released from his 2006 Ganassi Racing contract to drive the #42 Texaco Dodge, allowing him to go to Roush Racing, taking over for Busch in the #97/#28 car or whatever number they will use. So......who goes to the #42 Texaco Havoline Dodge? I am still hearing it'll be Bobby Labonte, and other reports have Ricky Rudd taking the #42 ride over

Now today they are saying Jamie has not been released.  Who knows?  It is a real silly season.  Plus Beth Ann Morganthal says she is not announcing anything.

AND that Bobby has been signed by Ganassi.  Ugh!  I just don't like him going over there for some reason.  Granted he's not doing well where he is, but I think he'll be second fiddle to the young guns of Stremme and Sorenson at Ganassi.

OK, now if B. Labonte goes to Ganassi, where does Ricky Rudd end up? He sounded on Trackside the other week like I was gonna retire, but "someone called".

Quote
Labonte to the #42? UPDATE 4: Hearing Bobby Labonte, driver of the #18 Interstate Batteries Chevy, is the top candidate to replace Jamie McMurray in the #42 Texaco-Havoline Dodge at Chip Ganassi Racing, which would allow #97-Kurt Busch to drive the #2 in 2006 and McMurray to head to Roush Racing and drive the #97. Both McMurray and Busch signed deals to go to those teams in 2007 and both are trying to get out of their contract to run with their new teams in 2006.(10-21-2005)
see UPDATE 2 and some notes on my #18 Team News page.
UPDATE 3: hearing that Bobby Labonte has signed with Ganassi Racing for next season. Supposedly they are only waiting for the lawyers to finish up with the paperwork. There was no mention as to whether or not Interstate Batteries would be going with him.(11-1-2005)
UPDATE 4: Perhaps the final piece to the puzzle is Ganassi securing a new driver for McMurray. Bobby Labonte has been in the rumor mill however Labonte, who is attending the 2005 SEMA Show in Las Vegas, told PRN’s Garagepass “I figure if you don’t run good you might as well start some stuff. Until something happens there’s nothing to say about it because there’s only two people that hold the key to the situation and a lot of people can talk about it but they don’t know what they’re talking about.”(PRN's Garage Pass Radio Show)...clear as mud?(11-1-2005)

OK, I am seriously royally confused now. Can SOMEONE please announce something so that all these pieces fall in place before I rip my hair out trying to interpret these "I know something but I can't announce it" and "Thats for me to know and you to find out" BS?

I'm with you, Bobby!  My patience is running out!

Something tells me that some of these changes will not be made until Daytona testing in January.  That's awfully late.

That wouldn't be the first time.  As I remember, Ricky Craven didn't get his ride with Cal Wells until right before Speed Weeks in February.

This remark by Bobby is the most priceless yet:

Quote
a lot of people can talk about it but they don’t know what they’re talking about.

That makes perfect sense to me.  No one knows apparently and some people just talk.

Someone posted a link to this on my other racing group:

http://sports.espn.go.com/rpm/news/story?series=wc&id=2217601

I'm sorry to see him go as IMHO, Ricky still has the ability to win any week if given top equipment.  But I'm glad he's going on his own terms and not hanging around until he becomes a joke like some drivers did a few years ago.

We are slowly losing all of the veterans.  It is becoming sadder each season.  There are some who seem to be icons and I know age will force all of them to leave us, but it still seems so unfair that the good ones cannot get the top equipment rides anymore because the "young guns" are too much in demand by sponsors.  Sad loss for Nascar.
