Greetings one and all. I took a self imposed break from the forum until my favorite driver, Jeff Gordon, won a race. The way things were going lately, I thought I might have to retire my typing fingers. Now onto the Talladega race. I think that race showed why they are the best drivers in the world. However, Nascar needs to do something about the plate packages. THROUGHOUT the WHOLE RACE I felt like I was in the Colliseum in Rome. I want to see exciting racing without it being over the top dangerous. With that said, I am extremely happy that Jeff won the race. As far as the fans throwing things as to ensure they get drafted by the NFL, I say pull up your britches and fire away. It will only add to perception that Nascar is for rednecks. No disrespect is intended when I say that, but it is not looked on favorably outside of nascar nation.
I was happy when Jeff stopped and did his burnouts as well as allow the crowd to "shower" him with the praise befitting a 4 time cup champ.
As for fox, I say good job at martisville. Talladega was none too shabby either, although all of the announcers were part of DEI's payroll. I overstand that Jr. is and will forever be the prodigal son that has never had to return, but there are other drivers at a plate track, hell, any track for that matter.
For those who can not stand the sight of Gordon winning, I say after: 65 cup wins, among them 3Brickyards and 2 Daytona 500's, AND 4 Winston Cups, are you not use to the sight of seeing the #24 Dupont Chevrolet pull into VICTORY LANE? Ooops, forgive me for neglecting to mention PEPSI as well.
