Title: Truck Series in Serious Trouble

Lou sent me this article earlier this week, but I just got a chance to post it here.  John Close wrote a book on the early days of the truck series and I can't agree with him more that they started losing their way when they left the short tracks on which they were born.  It would certainly cost a helluva lot less to field a truck at places like Flemington, NJ than it does at Texas.  And 23 cars running the entire race shows that the fears or John and others about short fields are warranted.  NA$CAR can claim they have full fields in all the divisions, but they're simply "spinning" the reality they want to portary:
