Title: Daytona Ratings
Post by: Cheryl on February 22, 2007, 03:08:30 PM
From an article by Mike Mulhern:

"The five markets with the highest ratings: Greenville, S.C. (22.1); Winston-Salem/Greensboro/High Point, (22.0); Indianapolis (21.6); Charlotte (20.6); and Orlando (20.1)."

So basically, to me, this says NA$CAR has made no inroads in the non-traditional markets.  The south and Indy still watch racing more.  So, why again is it TV insists on starting the races so damn late???  Because it's certainly not encouraging anyone outside the east coast and midwest to watch more.

To their credit, they continue to watch and be loyal to NASCAR racing. :)  But why not give them a sport that they can be proud of, something to remind them of why they started to watch in the first place?

Instead, NASCAR wants them to take the exit back to their country homes while the rock-star-looking people with lots of tattoos and purple spiked hair take their places.  They aren't bad people, they just can't tell a lugnut from Limp Bizkit. :'(
