Title: A better Idea/

I wonder if Nascar will let this get off the ground?

TNT looking at no commercial breaks in 2007? Sports Business Journal reports that TNT is floating a package to potential advertisers that would allow advertising during the race broadcast and eliminate commercial breaks. The advertising would take place on the screen during the broadcast and allow continuous race coverage. TNT will broadcast six Nextel Cup races next summer. The story reports that officials from Turner and NASCAR would not comment. The story also reported that TNT's Cup ratings are down 8.3% from last season.(Roanoke Times)(10-18-2006)

That's cool - so hopefully the advertisers for TNT will buy in.  Remember it was TNT or TBS who actually did the commercial-free broadcast several years ago.  This was before the "new" network partners in 2001.  Might have been NBC - can't remember for sure, but it certainly was not Fox...

I remember reading on this forum that TBS produced a commercial-free pay-per-view broadcast from Pocono in the late 1990s.

Certainly, the TNT broadcasts would look so different from the ones we see now.  Maybe ESPN can even bring us "side-by-side"; combined, the total number of commercials for NASCAR race telecasts would go down substantially. :D

Unfortunately, Fox will be same-old, same-old. :x
