Title: A first for me
Post by: Vivian on May 23, 2005, 08:37:08 PM
Today I left home without setting the recorder for Inside Cup.  Even when I would not be in town, I would always set the recorder for that show.  Guess what, I didn't and I don't even have withdrawal symptoms.  I don't think I am gonna miss it all.

You know, Vivian, I didn't even think about it being on until it was half over or something.  We were more interested in watching the season finale of 24, so I didn't even think about IWCR.  And I didn't miss it one bit.  I'm sure I wouldn't have wanted to hear Mr. Know it All's take on the incidents Saturday night anyway.

SPEED has also killed my interest in 24/7 this season as well.  I never missed it last year, but now that they're covering Shane Hmiel, I have steadily lost interest every week.  I get enough about him on the regular broadcasts.  I'm kind of neutral about Kasey Kahne, but enjoyed hearing his team's comments.  Really liked that Shmuck guy and that team is gone now too.  I like David Stremme and Tim Fedewa and always enjoyed hearing whatever popped out of Armando Fitz's mouth, but that's not enough to make me sit through the coverage of the other driver.  Haven't even recorded the show the last two weeks.

Well, surprise, surprise, ole Dad here watched about 20 minutes or so of INC last night. (I enjoyed seeing Mark drive away from E Sad again, even tho I like Elliott).
Anyhow, I think  Ken Shrader is really trying to rein Mikey in, but Alan Bestwick is the one who needs to do it. You could tell that Ken was trying to gently tell Mikey to shut up, he even said so in a round about way.
Sadly, Ken's efforts didn't do much good. Mikey is so full of himself right now that he makes me sick, so I turned it off and did other things. Oh well. :(

I know what you mean about Shrader, Dick.  The last year or so, one of the highlights of the show for me has been his facial expressions when Michael goes off on his tangents.  They are priceless!  It's SO obvious Ken feels the same way about his "me-me-me" attitude as many of us fans.  But I do agree that Allen ought to do a better job controlling MW too.

That is what I think is wrong with the show.  Alan can't or isn't allowed to control Mikey.  I loved watching Kenny Schrader and listening to him and watching his facial expressions when Mikey would go overboard.  You know, for some reason I just thought of something strange.  Mikey kind of reminds me of Suzanne Sommers on 'Three's Company'.   Just popped into my head.  I know he isn't blonde but we do know he uses 'Just for men'.  Argh!  Bad Vivian, bad Vivian.... :smt011

I am in the same boat as you all..  Never used to miss the Monday show. Now never seem to watch it.. Almost too many "recap" shows to make it worthwhile.  When I heard it was going to 1 1/2 hrs I was excited.. But I still never tuned in..   I guess with the cup races showing recaps, and several recap shows on Speed on a daily basis, it's flooded the market so to speak..

Admitting you have  a problem is the first step. I'm proud of you Vivian. :smt038

That is part of Nascar's problem with their shows, imo.  Way too much of the same-o, same-o these days.  All interviews, no matter what show, are always the same.  So are all the replays of things.  Just way too much.  If I had to pick just one of them, I think I would watch Speed News only.  I do watch Wind Tunnel but it encompasses all types of racing.  But speaking of Wind Tunnel, 2 hours is too long.  One hour four nights a week was perfect because he managed to have guests from all types of auto and motor sports on fairly regularly and I loved it.

Vivian, you are correcto. Windtunnel was good last year and I made an effort to tune it in. Now I don't even bother. Same old story, as soon as I get used to something, someone goes and changes it. Oh well. :-D
